Costume Perfection by Erin Buhr

The Annual Halloweenie Writing Contest is one of my favorites. It is a challenge that forces writers to stay under 100 words which is always tricky, but fun. You can find all of the rules on Susanna Hill’s blog.

Here is my 100 word Halloween story.

Costume Perfection
by Erin Buhr

Angella could never pick just one costume. How dull.

So this Halloween she was a
Skeleton Princess Superhero Koala.

On Halloween night she got ready.
Skeleton Mask.
Princess Gown.
Superhero Cape.
Koala Ears.

Perfection.

“Trick or Treat!”
“Aren’t you a cute…skeleton?”
Angella frowned.

“Trick or Treat!”
“Oh! A princess?”
Angella scowled.

“Trick or Treat!”
“What in the world are you dear?”
Angella glowered.

The Skeleton Princess Superhero Koala crept home frustrated and exhausted.

The following year Angella wasn’t any better at picking just one costume. How dull.

So this Halloween, she was a
Firefighting Astronaut Olympian

with signage.

Perfection.

You captured kids who love to mishmash perfectly, Erin. And the solution (signage) was perfect! Well done!
